Just soaking yourself in hot water calms the nerves down while also rekindling the metabolism. To take these benefits to the next level try a herbal bath. The healing powers of herb-infused waters have been celebrated for thousands of years, dating back to the ancient Egyptians when Cleopatra was said to bathe in rose petals. A famous Greek physician Hippocrates adopted the Egyptian practice of using water for more than just hygiene and further advanced the healing properties of water, which today is known as hydrotherapy.
 
From there, the Romans, who were known for loving a good party, morphed the art of the bath into a celebratory destination with their famous bathhouses, which were appointed with teams of masseurs who applied aromatic herbs to bathers to improve circulation and relieve physical and mental pain.
 
In modern days, as the name suggests, a herbal bath is a way to infuse your hot bath with herbs that are known to de-stress. It’s not always  just herbs, and can also  be infused with fresh fruits and flowers that soothe the muscles, soften skin, improves circulation and combat infection.

Pandan Leaves - also known as the ‘Vanilla of the East’ are popularly used in Southeast Asian cuisine, because of their pleasant aroma and taste. The tannins in Pandan leaves aid in healing burns. The high antioxidant content helps fight free radicals, which slow the signs of aging of the skin. The soft and sweet scent of Pandan leaves also helps to relax our minds.
 
Lime & Orange - are rich in vitamin c and antioxidants that help reduce the signs of ageing. The citric acid in citrus acts as a gentle exfoliant that helps to remove dead skin cells.
 
Lemongrass - The antifungal and antibacterial properties within lemongrass help with rashes. While the antioxidant rich compounds are anti-inflammatory and soothe irritated skin and calm redness.
 
White rose or Frangipani - act as added fragrance to balance the citrus scent with flowery & soft smells that calm the mind.
