A Legacy Comes Full Circle: Inside Hadiprana Hospitality's Intimate Launch

Where Indonesian heritage meets modern hospitality - a family's passionate journey from private gatherings to cultural preservation

The soft notes of keroncong music drifted through the art-filled corridors of Rumah Prapanca on June 11, 2025, as Jakarta's most discerning media and hospitality partners gathered for an evening that felt less like a corporate launch and more like being welcomed into a family's most treasured home. This was exactly the intention behind Hadiprana Hospitality's official debut - a celebration that embodied the very essence of Indonesian hospitality that has been the Hadiprana family's heartbeat for generations.

An Afternoon of Cultural Elegance

The launch event unfolded in two thoughtfully curated sessions, beginning with an afternoon reception for industry partners - the decorators, caterers, and photographers who understand the artistry behind exceptional events. As guests arrived at the exclusive South Jakarta residence, dressed in "Timeless Elegance with a Cultural Twist," they were greeted by the melodious sounds of a five-piece keroncong ensemble, whose repertoire seamlessly wove between classic Indonesian melodies and modern Western interpretations.

The living room of Rumah Prapanca provided the perfect backdrop for this cultural symphony. Adorned with a curated collection of antiques and artifacts from across the Indonesian archipelago, the space demonstrated how Indonesian heritage could be presented with sophisticated elegance without overwhelming the senses. Guests marveled at how each piece seemed to tell its own story while contributing to a harmonious whole - a testament to the late Hendra Hadiprana's visionary approach to design.

Executive Chef Dean from Tanah Gajah crafted an exquisite selection of canapés that reflected the same attention to cultural detail: crispy corn tortillas crowned with gomadare-marinated tuna, delicately sautéed prawns with wasabi furikage, and house-cured Tasmanian salmon served on garlic cheese toast. Each bite was a small revelation, showcasing how traditional Indonesian flavors could dance with international techniques.

Where Hospitality Was Born

As the evening session welcomed Jakarta's leading media representatives - including editors from Tatler Indonesia, Harper's Bazaar Indonesia, What's New Indonesia, Prestige Magazine, and CNBC Indonesia, among others - the intimate dining room was transformed into a stage for storytelling. Set for just twenty guests and surrounded by soft jazz melodies, the space featured the Hadiprana family's personal collection of silverware, each piece carrying decades of memories.

Ms. Puri Hadiprana, Founder of Hadiprana Hospitality, opened the evening with a revelation that would resonate throughout the night: hospitality didn't begin as a business venture for the Hadiprana family - it was simply who they were.

"My father, Hendra Hadiprana, and my mother, Jennewati Hadiprana, lived and breathed hospitality long before we ever thought of it as an industry,"  she shared warmly.

"This very room where we sit tonight has witnessed countless gatherings, each one crafted with the same attention to detail, cultural authenticity, and genuine warmth that now defines our hospitality properties."

The stories that followed painted a picture of a family whose passion for hosting was legendary. From elaborate themed celebrations featuring traditional Balinese dancers and live gamelan performances to intimate dinners where every element - from the carefully selected music to the thoughtfully prepared cuisine - was designed to create lasting memories. For the Hadipranas, entertaining wasn't about impressing guests; it was about sharing their love for Indonesian culture and creating connections that would endure for multiple generations.

Ms. Sekaraya Hadiprana Surjaudaja, the brand ambassador and Puri's daughter, added her own touching perspective to the family's hospitality legacy.

"As a child, I was often too young to attend these grand gatherings," she reminisced with a smile.

"But I would peek from behind doors, captivated by the laughter, the music, and the joy that filled these rooms. Later, when my mother and grandparents would tell me about the evening's stories and connections made, I began to understand that we weren't just hosting parties - we were preserving and sharing our culture."

From Family Home to Hospitality Heritage

This tradition of meaningful hospitality naturally expanded beyond Jakarta's borders. The family's first home in Sanur, Bali, became another canvas for their entertaining artistry and will soon be transformed into Bandarindu, a Hotel by Hadiprana, expected to open in Q4 2026. But it was their vacation home in Ubud - built in the 1980s and now known as Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana - where their hospitality philosophy truly flourished into something larger.

"What began as our family retreat became a place where we could share the Indonesia we loved with others,"  Puri explained.
"Every decision, from the placement of art pieces to the design of cultural experiences, was made with the same care we put into welcoming friends into our home."

A Portfolio Rooted in Purpose

Today, Hadiprana Hospitality encompasses four distinctive properties, each reflecting different facets of Indonesian cultural heritage:

Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana
It offers 24 suites and villas surrounded by Ubud's rice paddy fields and lush garden, providing guests with barefoot luxury experiences that include wellness programs, cultural activities, and transformative dining experiences in the heart of Bali's artistic soul.

Dua Dari, a Residence by Hadiprana
The property presents the ultimate in intimate luxury with just four units of one-bedroom residences in Ubud, ensuring maximum privacy and personalized service alongside a carefully curated art collection that reflects the owner's distinguished taste.

Rumah Prapanca, a Residence by Hadiprana
The very venue of the launch event - serves as Jakarta's hidden gem for exclusive gatherings, featuring three distinct settings: The Living Room with its collection of Indonesian antiquities, The Dining Room crowned by Hadiprana-designed chandeliers and impressive teakwood ceiling, and The Terrace & Swimming Pool overlooking lush gardens adorned with Balinese umbrellas and colonial-era rattan furnishings.

The upcoming Bandarindu, a Hotel by Hadiprana will transform the family's original Sanur holiday home into a vibrant social hub that blends cultural heritage with contemporary design, creating dynamic spaces for modern travelers seeking both connection and rejuvenation.

The Art of Cultural Hospitality

What struck every guest at the launch wasn't just the exquisite food crafted by Chef Dean or the stunning ambiance of Rumah Prapanca - it was the realization that they were experiencing something increasingly rare in today's hospitality landscape: authentic cultural immersion without performative elements. The keroncong music wasn't a show; it was the natural soundtrack to an Indonesian evening. The artifacts weren't decorations; they were treasured family possessions with stories to tell. The hospitality wasn't a service model; it was a family tradition being shared.

As Sekaraya Hadiprana Surjaudaja noted in her remarks, "We're thrilled to officially launch Hadiprana Hospitality, and we're looking forward to further growth with several exciting projects in the pipeline. As our portfolio expands, we remain committed to honoring the legacy of my grandfather - Mr. Hendra Hadiprana by curating experiences that are culturally rich, artistically inspiring, and ecologically sustainable."

A New Chapter in Indonesian Hospitality

The launch of Hadiprana Hospitality represents more than a business expansion - it's the formalization of a family's decades-long commitment to preserving and sharing Indonesian culture through the art of hospitality. In an era where travelers increasingly seek authentic experiences over Instagram-worthy moments, the Hadiprana approach offers something profound: the opportunity to be welcomed into Indonesia's cultural heritage as honored guests rather than mere tourists.

HH-EVENT---EDIT-32

As the evening concluded with guests lingering over final conversations in the garden terrace, surrounded by the gentle glow of traditional Balinese umbrellas and the soft murmur of Jakarta's night, it was clear that Hadiprana Hospitality had achieved something remarkable. They had launched not just a hospitality brand, but a cultural movement - one that promises to carry Indonesia's gracious spirit to discerning travelers around the world, one meaningful connection at a time.

For those who understand that true luxury lies not in opulence but in authenticity, Hadiprana Hospitality offers something increasingly precious: the joy of discovering Indonesia through the eyes of those who love it most deeply.
